It’s hard to believe that I’ve gotten 19 Stitch Fix boxes on my doorstep! Every month, I so look forward to opening that box and unwrapping the goodies inside. It’s kind of like a mini Christmas morning! So when my husband and I sat down to eliminate some of the extras from our budget in order to make room for all of our new house expenses, I just couldn’t cut Stitch Fix from my life.
But in order to continue treating myself while still doing my part, I vowed to be more selective in what I kept; if I didn’t love it, it wasn’t staying. So I unpacked my May fix with much more critical eyes than I probably would have 6 months ago.
Item #1: Level 99 Cindie Linen Short. This was a hard one for me. On one hand, I loved the fit of these shorts and I so needed some new ones, but I had three things holding me back. One-they were white and I’m not really a white shorts kind of girl. I’m clumsy, I often sit on the ground for work and I have a black wiener dog who sits in my lap like it’s his job. Two-they were linen. Linen wrinkles and I don’t iron. Ever. Three-the price was just too high when I considered the other two negatives. So I sent these back.
Item #2: Loveappella Zola Asymmetrical Striped Dress. I wanted this dress to fit me so badly and it did, but not in a way that would have left me feeling comfortable while wearing it. Back it went.
Item #3: Marlyn Schiff Melissa Crystal Charm Necklace. I loved this necklace so much! It’s pretty and delicate, which is how I like my jewelry. It also has a fairly short chain which works well with a lot of my shirt necklines for work. It was a keeper and I’ve worn it quite a few times already.
Item #4: Papermoon Paulette Lace Detail Blouse. This shirt was so stinking cute and my favorite material so I had an internal battle about keeping it. I did end up sending it back because it was just a tad too short in the front and quickly became a crop top when I raised my arms over my head.
Item #5: RD Style Rhonda Faux Leather Jacket. No no no. I hated the color and material of this. It was made from “vegan leather”, which to me means “plastic” and it felt like that’s exactly what you were wearing. This was an easy one to send back to me.
What items are easy or hard for you to cut from your budget? Would you have kept any items I sent back?
