Is there anyone more under appreciated than moms? I mean they carry you for 9 months, endure countless hours of labor to bring you into the world and then spend the next 18+ years catering to almost your every need. And how do we repay them? With a card and some flowers once a year. If they’re really lucky, they get breakfast in bed too.
I’m helping you step up our Mother’s Day game this year with some really fun ideas catered to the mom in your life!
For the crafty mom: re-stock her favorite craft supplies, pimp out her craft corner with new organization (I love this set of vintage drawers) or purchase supplies for a new project that you’ll help her with! Chain places like AC Moore and Michael’s are great places to start, but odds are there a few speciality stores in your area that cater to her favorite craft.
For the mom who loves to travel: of course, a weekend getaway to a new destination is an awesome idea, but travel essentials may be more budget friendly and just as appreciated! A new passport holder, a comfy travel pillow or a cute new weekend bag (I can’t get over this Kate Spade one) are all fantastic ideas.
For the mom who loves the spa: help her create her very own spa experience at home. A basket full of relaxing candles, bubble bath, soothing music, face masks, new nail polish, magazines and a nice bottle of wine will have her relaxing in no time. World Market has some pre-created spa baskets that have all kinds of fantastic ways to help mom relax.
For the mom who rocks in the kitchen: a cooking class could be a ton of fun, especially if she gets to share it with you! Try Sur La Table for some amazing classes. Or put together a basket full of fun kitchen gadgets or fancy spices! Penzeys has some fantastic spice collections. A and I actually received one for our wedding and have loved trying everything!
For the mom who’s four-legged companion is the apple of her eye: a pet-themed gift basket! Add in fun stationary, a cute figurine or a throw pillow that features her favorite pet. Search Etsy for some great options.
Really, there are as many great gift ideas as there are reasons to appreciate your mom! What are you doing to celebrate Mother’s Day this year and why are you thankful for your mom?
