Happy 5th of July, y’all! Hopefully you all had a wonderful day with your family and friends. I know things were quiet around here yesterday, but I’d like to think that I’m making it up to you today by sharing my mini July 4th care package. I had to get creative with this care package since it would be traveling with A instead of getting shipped to him.
I’ve done mini care packages before and really like how they pack so much fun into such a tiny package. The challenge is of course finding items that fit into mini care packages. This July 4th care package gave me a very tough time because the box was so tiny and almost every July 4th item I found was too large to fit.
I did find peanut butter cups and Hershey’s kisses that were festively wrapped so they worked perfectly in my July 4th care package. I also squished a red, white and blue drink koozie in the bottom of the box. But I wanted to send something more than just candy and a koozie. So I kept shopping and got a little creative.
And that’s how my patriotic trail mix was created! I combined yogurt-covered craisins, yogurt-covered blueberries, regular craisins, cashews, banana chips and red, white and blue M&Ms. I packaged it in plastic baggies and jammed a very solid portion into the box.
I capped off my mini July 4th care package with some cute stars cutouts (left over from previous care packages) and a little message. While this care package isn’t as extravagant as many of my others, I think it still gets the job done while not taking up a lot of space.
Grills sizzling, splashing in the pool, lots of laughter, maybe a firework or two; those sounds are the soundtrack of summer. But along with those perfect sounds, there is sure to be music! The perfect playlist can really add an extra level of fun to your festivities and with 4th of July BBQs right around the corner, I rounded up a few of my favorite patriotic songs to add to your next playlist.
Some of these patriotic songs may be no brainers for your BBQ playlist, but hopefully there are a few new ones to add to your list. Whether you’re in the backyard or down at the beach, your 4th of July celebration will hit just the right note thanks to a few patriotic songs on your playlist. Mix them in with other up-tempo party songs to keep everyone celebrating!
Putting together a care package is a three-part process: pick a theme, decorate your box and then fill it with goodies that fit the theme and that your loved one enjoys. Luckily for all of us, the 4th of July comes with a pretty perfect built-in theme for military care packages. Steps two and three are pretty easy as well: I have the perfect 4th of July care package in my shop and have put together a list of patriotic care package contents so you can send the perfect care package!
There are lots of patriotic care package contents in stores right now, but if you’re interested in sending something a little more personal, I highly recommend the patriotic rice krispie treats! They are so festive and easy to make. Just make sure to add a slice of bread in with them and wrap them well so they don’t get stale!
I linked two options and can’t decide which ones I like best, but the flag cookies make take the cake, so to speak. They are definitely more complicated, but really fit the theme! And last, but certainly not least, I can’t wait to help little ones create the handprint flag art to send. It looks like such an easy project, but would mean so much to folks overseas.
Baking and crafting not your thing? That’s totally ok! You can find patriotic care package contents everywhere right now and they are perfect! The three I have here are specific for 4th of July, but there are so many other red, white and blue items that exist year-round.
Patriotic care package contents don’t necessarily have to be food. There are plenty of apparel items that you could send, including non-holiday ones. For example, my husband loves UnderArmour shirts for working out and one in red, white and blue would be perfect.
Other items could include red or blue Gatorade, gum in red or blue packages and fun patriotic decorations. Just remember that you cannot send alcohol or fireworks/sparklers. What are your favorite patriotic care package contents?
What says “happy Monday” better than a new care package? A new 4th of July care package, of course! That’s right, I’ve added a super cute patriotic care package set to the shop and it’s ready for you to check out.
I wanted this 4th of July care package to super fun and festive, but simple. I toyed around with using a variety of patterned paper to get the festive look, but opted instead to stick with the good ol’ red, white and blue. Frankly, the finished product makes me exceptionally glad that I did. All of the colors are really vibrant and pop against each other.
To add a little extra pop, I selected shimmery paper for the text and stars. I used similar paper for the flaps of my St. Patrick’s Day box and loved the look so much that I knew I would use it again. But I didn’t stop there. I went full on glitter bomb with the paper I selected for the fireworks.
I don’t use glitter paper very often due to my husband’s borderline irrational fear of it. However, when I think fireworks, I think sparkle, so I decided to go for it. And honestly? Those sparkly little fireworks make me so darn happy and I hope they make y’all happy too.
You can shop this 4th of July care package right now in my shop and, as always, it ships for free! Plus 10% of the purchase price is donated to an organization that supports military families.
I think care package posts are some of my favorite posts to write. I have so much fun putting the actual boxes together that this gives me a chance to enjoy them all over again!
The 4th of July care package may have been the best one I’ve ever sent A. Between the top notch contents and the spot on decoration, I was at the top of my game with this box. Let’s hope I didn’t peak too soon!
I went full out with decorating the box itself, thanks to the scrapbook paper section at AC Moore. A few stickers leftover from my homecoming sign last year and a trip to the $1 section at Target had the box looking awesome.
But it wasn’t enough. I really really really wanted the items themselves to be decorated, but I couldn’t find any patriotic wrapping paper. So I did what any semi-crafty military wife with a little extra free time on her hands would do: I made my own.
I used Crayola washable paint on just plain white craft paper and it worked like a charm. But, if you’re planning on doing this yourself, wrap the items and then paint the paper. Otherwise it will crack and make a mess.
Aren’t they just the cutest?
Everything got loaded up into the box (easier said than done) and topped with some more Target finds.
A absolutely loved this box and agreed that it may have been the best one I’d ever sent. Although that didn’t stop him from pointing out that I neglected to send a pencil sharpener to go with his pencils. Rookie mistake.
I tried to include as many patriotic items as possible:
