Cinco de Mayo Care Package Inspiration

April 11, 2016

Let’s fiesta like there’s no mañana! Well ok, so maybe that’s better suited to the weekend rather than a Monday, but I’m so excited to share my Cinco de Mayo care package inspiration with you that it feels like we’re partying.

Cinco de Mayo Care Package: The Box

For me, a care package theme starts with the box decorations and a Cinco de Mayo care package is no exception.  So if I’m planning a fiesta in a box, I want to make sure I pick super fun paper.  I love this multi-colored stripe from scrapbook.com.  To cover the inside of a large USPS flat rate box, you’ll need 5 pieces total which makes this a super affordable way to add a little extra spice to your care package.

The fun colors definitely add a festive feel to the otherwise really ugly brown box.  Plus it gives you a blank slate to add text. May I suggest “let’s fiesta like there’s no mañana”?

Now, it’s not really a party in a box, if there’s nothing inside the box, is it? If you’re shipping overseas, you have to pick shelf stable items so, as much as I L-O-V-E guacamole, it won’t be making an appearance in my Cinco de Mayo care package.  Chips, salsa and queso will have to do for the edibles. (Pro tip: make sure you wrap the glass jars in bubble wrap and put them in a heavy duty ziploc just in case they break.) You could also include taco shells or any other favorite food items (minus any alcohol of course).

In my mind, you can’t have a party without decorations so obviously I would include some in my Cinco de Mayo care package.  Party City has a fantastic selection of fun decorations that won’t break the bank. In fact, everything you see here would run you less than $25! And I mean seriously, you’re sending someone maracas! Even if they hate everything else, the recipient of your Cinco de Mayo care package will be thrilled to get those!

And to keep the party going, here’s a great little freebie for your Monday! I’m sharing my favorite Cinco de Mayo printable with you! Just click on the picture, save the attached PDF and print off to send in your Cinco de Mayo care package.
